Elaine Harvey was named Johnson State College’s assistant director of athletics for internal and external communications in December of 2012. Her position was made possible by the DIII Strategic Alliance Matching Grant from the NCAA. In addition to helping manage and grow Johnson's intercollegiate athletics programs through fundraising, Harvey works to strengthen Johnson’s ties with athletic alumni, manage all sports information for 13 sports, market and promote the varsity athletics programs and oversee game day operations.
Prior to joining the Johnson State athletics staff, Harvey worked in Washington, D.C. at the public relations firm of Powell Tate|Weber Shandwick, where she was an account executive and digital analyst. Her exposure to top clients such as the United States Air Force, Pepsi, the National Women's Law Center and Nike allowed her to sharpen her brand management skills and gain valuable exposure to the fast changing world of digital communications. She also worked in media and public relations for the Peace Corps' headquarters while in Washington, D.C.
A former NCAA Division III student-athlete, Harvey was a three-year starter and a two-year captain of the women's soccer team at Mount Holyoke College, where she graduated with a degree in American Studies in 2010. In her senior season, Harvey was selected to play in the New England Women's Intercollegiate Soccer Association's Senior Bowl.
In her time with the Badgers, Harvey has led Johnson athletics through a complete brand evolution, implemented live statistics and video for indoor and outdoor sports, initiated the athletics annual fund and grown the department’s annual golf tournament by 60% in attendance over three years and nearly doubled the annual earnings.
Harvey resides in Stowe, Vt. and is currently working towards her M.Ed. in educational leadership from the University of Vermont.
